Default Warning!!! You will cry!!!

A Pet's Ten Commandments

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation

from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends,

your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me.

Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have

been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10 On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please.

Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me

face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

I have seen this before but it is worth seeing again and should be framed and put in a lot of places to remind every dog owner of these important words-----I say dog owner (or would be dog owner) as a dog lover should already understand and love their dog and do what is best for them---It is for owners who have not learned or don't care---A wake-Up Call!!

SO Sad! and So True!

I remember when we had to put our Mastiff Zeus down. He was in so much pain. He was so sick and wasn't going to get better. He whimpered with every step. But still, it was hard to say it was time. I chose to go with him. My husband stayed home with our children. I took one of my husband's shirts so at least Zeus would have his smell there.

I still cry when I think about that day and that was 7 years ago. He was so big so it wasn't like I could hold him in my lap. But I sat on the ground with him, with his head in my lap and my head against him. I had my husband' shirt in my lap too so Zeus could feel both of us there with him. And then I just told him how much we loved him and how special he was. I remember I just kept saying "Your such a good boy". I stayed there with him in my lap for long after he was gone.

Those 10 commandments that you posted really touched my heart. How people can mistreat these wonderful animals is so beyond me.

Thank you for sharing.

It's hard to think of any of my dogs ever dying. The one that I'm particularly close to, Delilah, gave me a scare last week when she just got really ill. I took her to the vet and had to keep her there over night. I didn't sleep that entire night, it was so scary. Luckily she made it, and she's doing so much better now.
10-15 years just doesn't seem long enough though.
Thanks for sharing this.
