That would piss me off too but it prob. was meant to be. Kind of like what happened to me when I thought I was getting that other rescue dog--Honey/Willow. I ended up saving that one's life and adopting another dog--so rescuing 2 dogs and you can think of it that way too--as 2 dogs are being rescued! I have to say I prefer this one you will be getting over the other dog--cutie and I am thinking some Australian Shepherd there.
Be sure to post us some pics of the real dog when you get him!
Hey maybe Luna had her 'paws' in this decision too. I still believe Corky helped things along for what happened with my situation.

Considering that a welsh sheepdog is super hard to find where I live, I am guessing Austalian shepherd, tail intact. He is a cutie pie. I guess I better go load up on tennis balls and frisbes. Although, when I compare the two breeds, maybe there are some welsh sheepdogs that end up as strays but they get labeled as aussie and border collie cross breeds.
I will post pics as soon as I can. Me and Ryan both agreed that we are not getting a puppy and what did we pick? A puppy!

Blue eyed, I would say Australian Shepherd. Either way if it looks like that one, it is a cutie.

The one we are getting has brown eyes. But he looks just like this one.

Aww things really do happen for a reason. Do they have any idea how old the puppy is?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

There's very little chance of it being a stray Welsh Sheepdog - they're not that common here so the likelihood of there being enough for one to wander off and not be missed is pretty small.

They say he is 4 months old. If that's the truth, he is small for his age. I was looking at aussie pics trying to find one that looked like him and I came across something called a mini aussie. I did not know that was even a breed, but they look like small versions of regular aussies. Are they just designer aussies that are misbred to try to appeal to the masses, or is there really a mini aussie?
Nobody called today to claim him. I just have to hope nobody claims him tomorrow and then we can go get him. I want to name him Wallaby. Ryan said no. And yes, I know they really aren't from Australia. Whatever do you call an Aussie? I have never owned one and all I really know is that they are zoomy 24/7.

Mini Aussies are BYB's way of making a buck. They're not a recognised breed, and there are TONS of health issues.
The pup in the pic looks like a red merle Aussie to me... though may be a BC too. Merle can happen in many breeds and as it's a dominant gene, any mix of dogs that has one parent that's merle. Blue eyes are common in Merles, but not a for sure thing. not all Aussie's have bob tails either, though most breeders dock the pups that are born with a tail.
Too bad you couldn't adopt the other dog, but maybe this pup is meant to be.
You're likely to have alot of energy on your hands...

I can tell you that puppy is the sweetest. And I can tell you, no matter how much energy this puppy has, it will never be nowhere near as bad as Buster's first year. Buster has made raising any other dog look like a piece of cake.

No that is not a mini aussie. To note, prior to the AKC recognition the breed came in 3 sizes. Small, medium and large. Any under 19 inches were small. Mediums were over 19 to 22 and large over 22 inches. These dogs can get to 25 inches and 70lbs plus or can be as small as 19 to 20 inches and weigh 25lbs. I bred and raised these in the late 60's through the 70's before most ever knew what they were or ever heard of them. With the AKC recognition, they ASCA removed the size notation so that all are Aussies no matter their size. The miniature Aussie is a result of crossing a Pom with a small (runt) Aussie some years ago. A breeder in Texas if I remember finally confessed to this after years of breeding. Generally an Aussies ears will not stand, in the mini's this is common due to the link to the Pom. Based on the pic, the puppy looks to be average size for its age and correct for being an Aussie. As far as the one you are getting, once we see the pics, maybe we can get a better idea.
