Default Thundershirt Anxiety Solution?

Thundershirt | The Best Dog Anxiety Treatment

A miracle shirt? Anyone ever try this? It's gotten some good reviews from what I've read. I wonder if it might help dogs with SA as well? I might buy one for Wrigley for fireworks season..It lasts like 3 months around here.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Sounds and looks interesting. Unfortunately I would need to huge influx of cash for my herd. Then again, I do not know if these would work with true terriers. They are prone to be excited for the hunt no matter what is going on. Mine have been out in the middle of a downpour with thunder and lightening and never flinched.

I wouldn't mind buying one for Porter if I thought he wouldn't chew it up. That dog chews everything.

I have one for Oliver, and I know a Dog behaviourist who uses one on her Pom who's absolutely terrified of thunder.

I'll tell you, they work! Oliver's alot more relaxed in situations that usually cause anxiety, and my friend's Pom is way more relaxed about storms. They're not miracle shirts, but they do calm them down. They work very much like TTouch body wraps. Infact I know a TTouch practicioner who uses them.

That's my concern too but it would be Kuma trying to bite it off Wrigley.. She'd somehow turn it into a game then Wrigley would get irritated at her.

Sara, ty for the feedback. They sound like they're worth the investment eVen if Wrigley were to only wear it indoors. If it doesn't work for him he'll just have to go back to the basement when it starts up again. It's the only place he doesn't go ballistic when he hears the fireworks. What I've always found strange is that thunderstorms don't bother him. But then again, I love the sound of thunder & the cracking fireworks tend to annoy me.
