Default Mr. Sweater's smell

Mr. Sweaters smells just like a ferret. And he smells even more like a ferret after he's been out. Why would a dog smell like a ferret?

You know, I don't think I even know what a ferret smells like.. Next trip to Petco Im gonna go by & smell them...if they have any..they probably don't. I'm so focused on the dogs stuff I hardly pay any attention to the rest.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Ferrets are a member of the musteladae family. Guess what alse is too? Skunks! So ferrets have scent glands like skunks do. Most pet ferrets are descented shortly after birth. They have a strong musky odor if they don't have them removed. Even after removal they still have a slight musky odor because they can't remove the scent glands in their face. But they smell nothing like a shunk. They have an earthy smell that some people like and some people don't like. You can walk into most any pet store and smell the ferrets. I like the way they smell. I am just surprised that the dog smells that way.

Luna, are you always filled with such tidbits or are you secretly a ferret lover? I would have never thought they were related to skunks. "Earthy" is such an interesting word, it could smell as sweet as wet dirt (which I happen to like lol) or as scary as an egg farm imo. Kuma is running low on food so I may be smelling the ferrets within the week. You;'re welcome to join me C/M!

Uh--I think I'll pass, but thanks for the invite! I am wondering how close the smell might be to a dirty wet dog! I like some earthy smells but not that one I am thinking. Lol, you can let me know, Lange, and I'll take your word for it! (Sorry Luna)--And maybe the smell of Mr. Sweaters will change as he gets older. Couldn't resist this---Maybe if you take off the Sweater--He will smell better. Lol, it is taking me some time to get use to that name--after all I am a Taurus and that is how I am!! How did you come up with that name--can't remember you saying?

Shoot! I forgot to look for the ferrets! But I don't think they have any. They don't even carry Kuma's food. Get with it petco!

Thank goodness they didn't. Dogs aren't the only things that come from mills. Petco's ferrets come from Marshall Farms ferrets and puppy mill. They breed ferrets to be specific colors because that's what people want. It doesn't matter what health problems they have. I had 3 ferrets that have long since passed away. One of them I got while working at Petco. She came in way too young to be sold and had giardia. She was a ferret with a blaze. Lots of people like those because they are cute. But 90% of them are deaf. They breed deaf ferrets because people like the stripes down the middle of their head. I bought the little ferret with my employee discount and took it to the vet because Petco couldn't take it to the vet because they didn't pay their vet bill. She was so underwieght that the vet didn't think she would make it. REmember when you smell the ferrets in a petstore that they also come from mills. And some colors of ferrets have some health problems.
