Default Mr. Sweater's crate

How do I keep Porter out of Mr. Sweater's crate? Sweater's crate is only big enough for a 40 lb dog maximum. Porter has his own crate that is held together with zip ties because he tears the hell out of it when he wants out. I don't want him tearing up Mr. Sweater's cage. Porter weighs 105 lbs. The crate looks about to burst with Porter inside. Somehow he mangages to cram his whole boby in there and turn around repeatedly. I don't know what to do to keep him out of it. I like for Mr. Swaeters to use his crate whenever he wants, so I can't just keep the door closed. I had company this morning and he crammed himself in there while company was here. Those people must think that's where I keep him and that I'm horrible for keeping him in there. I explained that his crate is the big one and just shook their heads.

No ideas I'm afraid but I love the idea of Porter squashing into a little crate. I thought about you when I was looking at a local rescue - they have a Pyrinees cross sheepdog looking for a home. At first glance it looks like an odd perspective for the photo but in actual fact it is an enormous dog with collie markings. So handsome! Shame you are not near enough to give him a home.

Post the link to the pyr/sheepdog cross. I want to see. We've gone out of state to adopt a dog before.

Thanks Cigwyllt for the link. Lol, I must of scrolled too fast and went right by Tyler--went all the way to the end of page-WHEW!! Lot of dogs to see there and can understand why the site 'asks you to hang on' as long time to load that long page. I like the way this place does their thing though--enjoyed looking and reading (and so many pics--even a video or two) about some of the dogs--But sad too --so many need homes. Tyler is a pretty dog!! Lol, now what Luna!?

Can we have a photo for proof because I'm not buying it, Luna.

What to do?...I do a lot of correcting when the dogs do something that is off limits. I always prefer them making the first move out or away and I just keep behind them until I feel they do a full retreat & give the situation up to me. I do hope that makes sense!
in the meantime I know I'll be awaiting photos!! lol

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I am hoping it doesn't happen again. The next time he could break the crate. I have been using an air horn when he goes near Mr. Sweaters' crate. Scares the crap out of him. He's a VERY stubborn dog though. He just doesn't quit trying.
