Default Accidental mating!!!

Hey everyone! Well as I said in my intro.. my sister had to go away for a few months. She left me with her 8 month old pit. I have a 10yr old boxer and despite ALL MY EFFORTS he ended up jumping gate and mated her. I have no idea how far into her cycle she is. I still see red blood and some salmon blood! I would assume she is 14-16 days into her cycle. I dont know what to expect what to believe, etc. Do you think that this being BOTH there first matings that she will end up preggo? I see that maybe you shodul do it 2-3 times to guarantee a breeding. if we have pups we have pups but I dont really want to. She is 10 and has mamary cancer allthough she is FULL of spark. Plagued with ear infections but full of spark. I am worried about her health. I have heard of some very poor nurished dogs haveing healthy litters so I dont want to put her down or go for a c-section as she may not wake up from that. Then I dont want to loose her in delivery BUT if we do, I will understand. im so torn! Any advice as to what to expect or look for? Also my male is 9 months old as well but HE IS NEUTERED. if he mounts her all will be okay but do i have to worry about anyone getting injured if im not around and it happens. Will he even mount her if he is fixed? He has gender issues and is always mounting my sisters male but not yet my female! lol

Get her to the vet as soon as possible and terminate the pregnancy. Accidents happen and you have acted responsibly to try and keep them apart. However there is no reason for the bitch to suffer. Pregnancy is draining and exhausting for a healthy young bitch. For a 10 yr old whose health is already compromised it could be enough to kill her. Please please get her to the vet.

8 months is too young for a dog to have a litter. But it is a good time to get the dog fixed that way no more accidents of any kind can ever occur.

If you have a bitch in season and you are afraid of a dog jumping the fence to get to her don't leave her outside unattended. If you have a suspicion that she has been caught take her straight to the vet and he can abort the puppies.

There are also ways of delaying the season, for instance if you are going on holiday and you don't want her to be in season while you are there.
