PO'd
Earlier today we were bringing the dogs in from the yard but Kuma didn't want in yet so we left her out. Later we hear her barking so we look out of the window towards the alley and there are these little girls (of all people) standing at the fence. Hubby yells at them to leave the dog alone & they run away. Meanwhile Kuma is barking like mad over far away from the fence by the side of our house which is odd cause she never gets scared like that & she's usually all up on the fence when someone is around. We both go out and walk over to the back and see some big sized rocks on the ground. We don't usually have rocks in the yard so of course makes us think they might have been throwing rocks at her!! Pissed me off!! She is such a sweet girl, LOVES kids and I know stupid sht like this can cause her to mistrust them and I don't want to have to deal with a strong dog hating kids!! I have nieces & nephews over here she adores! Wants to lick them to death...After this, if I see anyone messing with the dogs I am not going to warn them I'm gonna run out there, find the little shts and their parents and chew them a new %^&!!
-Rant over-

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I know where you are coming from as this happened to a dog we (when I was still married) had a long time ago and it did change the way he thought about kids!! Makes you want to run out after them and shake the sh*t out of them! Makes me mad all over again just thinking about it.

I had a Rottie a long time ago that I had to have put down because the neighbor kid was throwing rocks at him and he jumped the fence and bit the boy. I still want to know why nobody did anything to the kid for throwing rocks at my dog.

I'm sorry C/M & Luna. It's heartbreaking what happened to your dogs. It;s so unfortunate that dogs are expected to treat people a certain way and held to high standards when humans, the most "intelligent" of all things aren't. We can hurt & kill them & yet no real punishment is issued. Yet as soon as dog hurts a person it's either on probation for life or killed. I'm pro kids first & foremost but why aren't those kids being watched by their parents? Adults should be teaching their kids to respect all life. And if they don't there should be more serious penalties placed.

I'm so sorry this has happened to your Kuma, as well as the other dogs
If I ever caught anybody (kids or adult) teasing, let alone THROWING ROCKS, at my dogs, lord help them. Because, I would hunt them down and definetly be the biggest and meanest dog(bitch) on the block!!

Poor Kuma girl!!...many years ago I had an Akita named Honjo and one day he was out in the yard and I heard him yelping..I go out to check on him and he was covered in yellow paint..The punks that lived behind us decided to use him for paint ball practice...Even after speaking to the parents they continued..Finally I gathered up enough paint balls and called the cops and handed them the plastic cup which had about 10 paint balls in it...Needless to say after that he hated kids and most people to the point where he had to be sedated just to get his rabies shot..Damn kids can be evil sometimes!!

That is just so heartbreaking and infuriating! Who can blame a dog for mistrusting other people when they've been treated so horribly by someone.
I hope the police did something when you showed them the paintballs, Ree. If they were my kids I would have grounded them for life...shot them a couple times with the paintballs when they were sleeping..See how theyliked it!
Thanks for all the support guys! Every morning & evening since then, I walk to the back and look around to see if there are any more rocks. So far nothing but I can't let it slip. For some time we've been thinking of putting up a second fence to keep the dogs away from the back alley if we ever need to. It's the only spot in the yard they can actually look out of though (chainlink) so I didn't want to have to block that from them too. I guess I'll have to wait & see if anything else happens.
Last spring our next door neighbors dog died. He said he thinks someone poisoned his dog. I don't know if there's any merit to what he's saying since this guy is always such a negative man. He complains about everything & anything but I've always kept it in mind just to be more aware with the dogs. It can be hard keeping our babies safe sometimes...
