So...I just brought home a 7 week old male beagle puppy. I already had a female beagle (3years) and a black lab male 1 1/2 year..both spayed and neutered. My lab is acting like a mother to the puppy and licking him like a mother dog would do to make him urinate....Is this normal dog behavior??? I have had dogs all my life but have never seen a male dog do this to a puppy??

I doubt if your Lab is licking there for that reason. I have a female 10ish Cocker/Golden mix (Is a rescued stray so not sure of age, etc.) that does the same thing to my 12+ Cocker male plus she is always licking herself there too. The best way I can describe it---I think she likes it and it is a big habit. She also is very affectionate in wanting to lick me in the face--needless to say I avoid it!! I should maybe try spraying Bitter Apple in both dog's 'areas' and see what happens--I just now thought of that and maybe I will try it.
