Opening our home and hearts to a new friend
OMG I might have very well found a pup that could be the one to weazle his way into our hearts and home and fill up the empty yard with balls fluff and silliness again.
So scared, so excited so everything......including a little sad. Its been 9 months now since Kato went to rainbow bridge, I feel a little guilty about being excited that this might be happening.
I just want to blurt it out though, im just excited that perhaps there is going to be a time that i will have a coat of fur blowing into the pool, and the neighbours washing again........Not an akita this time though, but still a breed that will blow the coat just the same...lol

I think Kato would be happy to see you offering another dog a home. The baby you lost will always be remembered but what better way to honour a lost fur kid than by offering a loving home to another one in need?

I agree with Lara's Mom and you never know--Kato just may of had a 'paw' in finding this puppy for you! I think my Corky led me to getting Sami.

Nattie, i think that is great! Don't ever feel guilty for living from the heart, excitement and all. You should be excited! And this doggy (or the next) deserves it just like Kato did when he first joined you.
I can't wait to hear all about the new baby if you do decide to jump in!... jump in....jump in...jump in... sorry i couldn't resist. X

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Nattie it's so nice to see you posting on here again...I know what you mean about the guilt..I felt the same way when we decided to get Seigi...Just as everyone said though don't feel guilty because Kato would've wanted you to share the love you gave to him with another fur kid..
It might take awhile but once you get the new fur kid the joy in your heart that Kato gave you will come flooding back..I'm so happy for you and your family!!

I swear Luna sent Mr. Sweaters to make us laugh our asses off. Don't feel bad about getting another doggie. There's nothing wrong with adopting a pooch and saving it's poor little life. (Wait, is the pooch at the shelter?)

No Lunar, its a dog with a breeder.
I sent her an email last night as they are only a very small kennel, and breed only very rarely so we thought we may have been up for a wait for a year or more. They did have a litter 6mths ago, and have no current plans for when the next breeding would be, but did advise that there is one little boy she kept from the litter for show, but he is not as big as they expected him to be, so have decided that they need to send him off as a pet only.
We go meet him next week, and if he decides that we are good enough to be his family, he will come home with us.
I look forward to the idea of fur all over my carpet, furniture and clothes again

I had said something similar to hubby last night....lol.....its just uncanny how an unexpected twist to a general enquiry occurred.
The breeder has been advertising this boy for about 6 weeks now, but was finding because of his age no one seemed to be interested......6mths in my view is quite ideal, young enough to still adapt to our way of life quickly, yet old enough to have gone through the motions of toilet training, basic obedience, he has been taught to walk well on lead already, he has been with both his parents for the last 6 mths learning good doggy habits from them, they are a family with a daughter the same age as taylah, so he is familiar with children of that age, and a family with 3 cats, so he is also familiar with how to behave around the felines of the house.
All in all he sounds like he could be perfect for us. We just have to go and meet him and see if he thinks so too.

*squeeeee! I can't wait to see pics of you bringing him home. What breed is he? You better take a pic of him the first time he pees on the rug. They don't stay that little and do naughty things like that all their life...I hope.

Luna......he is a Keeshond, so another fluff ball of a slightly smaller variety. lol
He wont be quite as small. the one we are going to meet, and if he likes us, is 6 months old, so an older pup, but thats fine.....hopefully it would mean no peeing on the rug...lol

I used to be a groomer and Keeshonds are one those breeds that require a ton of brushing. I hope your arms are in shape. They are very pretty doggies when they are all groomed though.

lol....luckily grooming an animal is not a chore for me, it is one thing that i have always been quite happy to do. Even with Kato, it was quite normal for me to go out the back with a coffee (lidded cups a must) a smoke and a brush and would sit there brushing him, it was not uncommon for me to do this several times a day each time it was time for coffee and smoke and I would work around in sections each trip outside.
Woman in her mightiest multitasking form.......lol
