Default What breed is right for me?

I have a big apartment, i have lots of experience with dogs and I just cannot imagine a life without a dog. Since, I dont have a house im searching for a small puppy. I only have three expectations: likes other animals, looks less like a chiuaua and more like Schipperke and can be home alone for like 6 hours and be good. I really hope you can name some good breeds that have those qualities.

A cat. I don't know what you mean by "being good" but dogs don't come knowing how to "be good". You have to train them like you do children. If you want something you can leave by itself and it will "be good", get a cat.

I agree with all of the above posters but, if you are willing to put the time in to properly train your dog, visit the shelters in your area. You will find so many wonderful dogs looking for loving homes.

Adopting from a shelter is a wonderful idea. But spend time with that dog, not just an hour or so. A few days. Leave and come back the next couple days, see if you and the dog are a good match. While you are trying to decide you can put the dog on hold. If you chose not to adopt. Go with a good breeder, try to see the parents of your puppy, see if they are well socialized. Research breeds you are interested in, see which ones fit into your life style. In that research include all your cost to having a pet, food, shots, vet bills, good trainning and so on.
If I had to suggest a breed based on your comments, I would look at Papillon, Havanese, poodle mix, I have seen a Schipperke/poodle mix which was such a neat dog. I have a min Pin and mix Terrier But I have a fenced yard, and I walk them all the time and take them every where. They are very active, and animated. Ive had a Schnauzer, she was tiny, quite, she never barked a real sweetheart. Good luck and have fun picking out the right dog for you.

I would hope a responsible breeder wouldn't home a puppy if it was to be left for six hours every day. That is a long time for a young pup and would play havoc with toilet training.
