Seigi's finally talking
Well Seigi has been one of the most non vocal Akita's I've ever had..Short of all the grunting he does when he's happy he never vocalizes..Well that changed 2 days ago...Since the incident with the MIL he's been gated off unless she's in her room until last night and apparently he decided enough was enough and he started talking up a storm..Now that he's "found his voice" he doesn't shut up lol..They were testing the tornado warning system this morning and he was talking up a storm with a few howls mixed in the whole time..

Lol, that is funny--I guess--not sure if you are happy about it or not!? Was going to say one good thing came about because of the MIL but maybe I shouldn't. Has Seigi shut up yet? Bet it was neat though when he surprised you!

I think he started with his Akita talk so he could tell the MIL a thing or to lol..Quite honestly it's whenever she's in the same room as us that gets him started and he keeps it up until she goes in her room..The best part is whenever he does it she tells us that Seigi's telling her he doesn't like her..

LOL Aww! I love hearing Akita talk (not mine she is mute there). Seigi must look like the cutest thing doing it!

Yes Lara it's the norm for the breed but if they are barkimg it's definietly for a reason

Maybe we should have the Akita's teach the yapping, barking dogs in the neighbourhood, exactly what they NEED to bark at, and what NOT to bark at. 
All my dogs have been very good about not barking a lot. But, it's something that I've taught them. It's OK to bark, but once I've acknowledged them and what they barked at in the first place, then it's time to stop.
After all this is their job to warn us and protect.
I've lived near dogs that bark continuously, (big and small ones) enough to know that no one likes listening to it.

And thats what we want from them. Seigi looks and sounds like an awesome dog.
The videos and pictures that you have put on here about the Akita are wonderful. What a beautiful breed. ALMOST to bad that weren't for everyone.
