I like the music also. I saw Evanescence in concert a few years ago. She really is quite the performer.

Ah so beautiful.... Some days I spend quite a few hours just looking through Akita photos online.

I wish I had gotten acquainted with the breed a long time ago but it was probably meant to be this way, I don't think I would have been prepared when i was younger.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I'll tell you what..When I was breeding I had a full time nursing job and 4 small kids..It was no easy task especially having to get them all seperated at dinner time..That was one of the reasons I only had one litter a year..Taking care of the kids and the adult dogs was hard enough never mind having a litter on the ground.

There's no doubt you have to be at the stage in your life when you're equipped to deal with them...they're not an easy breed that's for sure.

Exactly, I would have been inexperienced for the breed.

You must have had your hands full doing so much back then. DO you ever think about getting back into breeding?

Hubby and I have talked about it and I could get either a breeding pair or a female from Seigi's breeder but we just don't have the finances to get started and both of us have health issues that can take us out for days at a time so we aren't really in a good position to do.

I can understand that. It's definitely pricey & just owning dogs can be enough work. I also have to assume it can get pretty stressful sometimes. When I've thought about everything that breeding & showing entails I always come to the conclusion that owning is the way for me. lol I seen the National Specialty is coming to Indy next year..I'm tempted to go if we can.

It's a ton of hard work and you really have to have the time to make the commitment it takes and to stay with it and I for one don't have it anymore...Owning one is tough enough without 3 or 4 more.
