Suggestions needed ASAP

This morning I found a little mixed breed stray dog in Seigi's kennel..He's maybe 30lb's and by the looks of his teeth roughly a year or so old..He's totally emaciated but just the sweetest thing...Right now I have him in my laundry room which is heated and I've given him some food and water which he devoured...Apparently from what we've heard someone dumped him and he's been running around the area for about 3 weeks..

Here's my dilemma...he's not neutered for one and that can for sure present an issue with Seigi and I can't afford to vet him to make sure he's free of disease and have him neutered..The county we live in only has 2 rescues one of which is full and the other we can't reach..I so don't want to call AC because even if they had room for him I'm so afraid he'd be pts..I absolutely hate keeping the poor little guy out in the laundry room but I can't take the chance of Seigi being exposed to anything..I've already had to bleach out his kennel just to be safe...

Any suggestions?

Can you ask your vets if they know of anyone looking for a rescue? Our vet knew my dad had made an appointment but didn't realise that he was bringing his new dog in and so had a dog brought in from the local rescue to see if he would like to home him! Obviously that is a bit above and beyond the call of duty but there might be a chance they could help?

The vet was actually one of the first people I called..She gave me the number to the only other rescue out here but they're not taking any more dogs and she said she'll keep her ears open for anyone looking for a dog to adopt..Quite honestly her biggest concern was that I was keeping the little guy and Seigi seperated and bleaching out his kennel and the laundry room..I've even offered some of the rescues to supply him with a bag of food and to let them have Seigi's crate!

Are there any thought of keeping him?
If so, would one of the shelters neuter him, as if you were adopting?

I know when we adopted our Mack, he had to be neutered before he could come home and it was certainly cheaper than when I had Brody done at his vets.

Poor little guy. And poor you, the MIL just leaves and now you have this problem to solve.

We've been talking about it all night because hubby has fallen in love with him but I'm pretty confident his an Seigi's personalities aren't going to mesh..He seems to be of a Terrier mix so he's pretty high strung and we let him and Seigi see each other from the glass on the door to the laundry room..Seigi's reaction was really one of "I want to play" but this little guy gave Seigi a very challenging look which caused Seigi's hackles to go up so I for sure think there would be a competition for status and Seigi certainly won't give his up..I just don't think it would be safe for the little guy..To top it off he's extremely energetic where as Seigi is pretty laid back..So with that I don't think it would be long before Seigi got fed up but I don't think with our health issues we could give him the excersize he needs..He's obviously been through a rough time and he needs a home that can meet his needs..Not to mention we discovered he's a bit distructive..He climb up on the ledge in my laundry room and shredded my blinds lol..One thing for sure though we're not turning him into Animal Control..I've contacted the rescue that was involved with the 2 dogs in my other thread so I'm hoping we'll have some luck there..Hopefully we'll find a place for him soon because Seigi isn't a happy camper at the moment and he's already been through enough stress with the MIL situation!

It's to bad that Seigi isn't going to get a Terrier playmate for X-mas. LOL

But I'm sure you will make the right decision for all of you. Hopefully someone will take him in soon.

Well one thing for sure..I won't let this little guy go anywhere I don't think will give him the love,care and attention he needs..I have a responsibility to him now and I WILL fulfill it..However I do have to put Seigi first and make sure that this sweet little guy is placed in a home conducive to his needs and unfortunetly I know that's not here..

Awww,thank you..He seems like he's very grateful that's for sure..I put some cozy blankets down for him and every time I check on him he roles on his back,wags his little stub of a tail and closes his eyes and goes right back to sleep..I know he's certainly grateful to be fed..I so wish we were the right home for him and it wouldn't be an issue with Seigi because I sure would keep the little guy..Hubby keeps trying to come up with some solution that would allow us to keep him but he's learned his lesson about not listening to me when it comes to Seigi's reaction on certain things after the whole incident with my MIL!!

Stop talking about how cute he is and all the sweet things about him, because I'll want him!!

Maybe you could take picture of him? Not because I'll take him, but now I'm curious. And who knows, maybe someone here will see him, and fall for him.

I'm going to post pics of him tomorrow..I had to let the camera charge..BTW, if any members live in the St.Louis or surrounding area and are interested in the little guy please let me know..I can supply a bag of food and a crate if you need it..We just took him out to potty again to find he destroyed another one of my blinds so I've decided to go ahead and crate him for the night..Hopefully he won't whine in the middle of the night and get Seigi going..

If the stray dog was neutered, would your existing dog be alright with having another dog around? Some don't take kindly to the addition of a new sibling.

Well Seigi does fine with female dogs and even though he's not dog aggressive he's not fond of male dogs..I would be willing to give it a try though but I can't afford to vet him..I feel terrible having to keep him quarantined but I can't take the chance of Seigi catching something.

If anyone has an idea of his breed mixes let me know..The pics aren't the best because you can't get him to stand still...BTW,we named him Chance since he's gotten a second chance at a good life.

I can't even guess what breed he is. He's brindle, but doesn't look to have any boxer or bully breed in him. He doesn't look like any type of mastiff. He looks like some type of hound or curr. But I've never seen a brindle hound before.

I was thinking Hound or Curr to..he has the feet of a Greyhound or Whippet and he has the lankiness of the breeds to..There's no telling what he is but he's definitely a cutie and as sweet as can be.
