Take a moment to think about the pup's parents and the conditions in which they were bred.
I have posted a link to a local rescue here in the UK. When you look at the pictures and descriptions of the former breeding dogs remember that these are not what would be classed as cruelty cases, they are from fully licensed breeding premises. These dogs have skin problems caused by hormone issues, poor teeth, hernias, fused legs - yet they have been used for breeding until they are no longer profitable.
Please, please, please - think before you buy from a pet shop. The pups have been born to dogs like those in these pictures simply to satisfy the greed of the breeders. By buying a pup from a store you are condoning the way the mother is treated.
Don't be fooled by people telling you that the pups are carefully selected from approved breeders - no breeder who cares for his pups would sell them to a store anyway.
