What is the best bit?
Inspired by PirakeKitty's pics of her dogs I wondered what people felt were the bits of dog ownership? What are those moments that make you feel "That's why I've got a dog!"
For me, I love watching my dogs play off lead and then seeing them come when I call them like a couple of little bullets. Ears flying backwards, big wide mouthed grins on their faces and their little legs pumping up and down as the respond to my call.

What a great question, but a hard one:
I love watching the running and playing that they do.
I love walking them, which keeps me healthy. Great stress relievers.
I love being greeted at the door everytime I come home. I love the over whelming feeling of happiness I get when I hug them.
I have a plaque here at the house thats says,
"Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are."
I try to live up to that. And with their help, I think I do!

Just having them here--esp. being greeted in the morning by my rescued Golden Retriever/ Cocker mix, Sami--She is so smiley and tail wagging happy. Loves to snuggle against me. My Max (Cocker Spaniel) wants to wag his tail and wiggle through my legs and I can't resist 'patting' his butt/body as he does this. They are my companions and I would be lost without them as I am retired and live alone.

Getting knocked down every time I come through the door...being slobbered all over right after they get a drink of water...not being able to breathe because my dogs think they are lap dogs and feel the need to frequantly sit or lay on me.

Being sad, upset, or hurt - flopping down on the couch and immediately being covered furry black bodies, snuffly noses, and warm kisses.
Makes everything all better.

I love when I'm not feeling well and he knows to jump on the couch and snuggle up to mom
I love how he doesn't complain when dinners late
I love when I have a crappy day and he knows just the right thing to do to make me smile
I love knowing that even if hubby isn't here I'm protected
Most of all I love the unconditional love and loyaly!!

It's hard to choose just one thing. For me, it is playing with my girls, cuddling with them, snuggling close together in bed on a cold winter night, watching them devour the food that I've spent all day cooking for them, their sense of humour...Wow! I could just go on and on!

So glad you all enjoyed the pics. For me it would be Hunter the way he rubs his face on mine when he is just oh so happy to see me he cant contain himself so he will rub his face on mine for about 60 seconds, untill I laugh and tell him " I love you too" Or his incredible happy howl. He will stick his butt in the air, bend down like hes bowing, and then stretch up with his head and neck high in the air, and howl, he will do this to get my attention when hes happy. Nina how she waits patiently for me to enter the kitchen every morning, and then when I say "goodmorning little miss" then she greets me with excitement. Or her on going playful energy. she is alway so happy.

My dog Obi serves as my companion whenever I do my cardio workouts. He's best at home cheering up the people in the house because there's usually only three to four people at max that lives in my home.
What I love about my dog is the way he just accompanies me. I enjoy walking with him and he enjoys walking with me.
I guess I can sum it all up with the word "Bond". I enjoy the "Bond" I build with him.

Love the question & replies!
When I'm on the computer & Kuma ducks & wiggles her head under my arm and stares at me with her little butt wiggling. When she sits right on my feet with her back to me, folds her ears down in anticipation of me loving on her. Whenever I play tug of war with Kuma outside & she's pulling me across the whole yard it cracks me up every time. With Wrigley it's having him automatically follow me around or if I sit he has to be right on or under me. When he's outside he'll always take sneak peaks at the window looking to see if I'm peeping out...which I do a lot when they're out.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
