Do You Have a Paper Shredder?! ALERT---
ALERT:
Paper shredders can harm your dog!
If your dog or puppy is inside your home - beware of paper shredders! They can harm your pet! As I was researching hernias I came across an article about dogs and paper shredders. It told a story of how one owners dog began licking her paper shredder. The paper shredder engaged and drew the dogs' tongue through the blades. This resulted in the dog having to be put to sleep due to the damage to his tongue. So if your pet is in your home - keep those paper shredders in the off mode until you are right there to use it. Keep your pet safe!

I never thought about a dog doing that, but i can see that happening, Just unplugged mine. I do know dogs can bleed to death from a bad cut to the tongue.

Oww that is horrible. It makes sense when you think about it... Very good info you ran across, C/M. I don't have a shredder but if i ever do..... I'll also keep it unplugged, and off the floor.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

We have a paper shredder but it comes with the trashcan and lid for it. WE keep the lid on it. We don't want the little person to get her fingers in it. Never thought about the dogs getting into it though. Never had a dog that tried.

No you don't! Guess your house is probably better proofed because of her.
It reminds me of when my son got hurt by sticking his finger on a running treadmill years ago. I had never thought the treadmill would be a problem. you live & learn..

I have gotten road rash from a treadmill. I am now terrified of them. I gave it away and bought a Gazelle.
