Sammie's wheelchair
Sammie lost the use of one of her back legs on Saturday and we were trying to make her a wheelchair. We can't afford $575.00 to get her one made. We failed miserably at trying to make her one. So someone else that has a handicapped dog told me about Chipin and I thought I would try it. I don't normally take handouts but this is for my dog so she can walk again. I've already put one doggy to sleep just after the new year. Sammie is only 7 and the only problem she has is bad hips. She's just not ready to go yet. We've been carrying her out to go potty and it takes a lot of effort to carry a saint barnard. If it was a smaller dog that was easier to carry, I wouldn't be in such a dyer need. If anyone would care to donate to Sammie so she can get her wheelchair I would greatly appreciate it and so would she.

That is a lot of money. It;s one of many reasons I think it's amazing when I read of you guys and others taking in strays. You invest heart, time and money and we all know times are hard for many people. one reason so many shelters & rescues are over flowing.
I'm sorry Sammie is having problems. If I can offer some advice, would you be willing to contact some St Bernard rescues? I know with the amazing Akita rescues I often see them trying to help out owners who are struggling so that the owners keep & help their babies. They might be able to help or at least share/pass on your ChipIn to help you raise some money. I know it's not easy asking for help but it's your baby! Good luck, Luna. I'll try to give a little more in about 2 weeks. Right now unemployment is our God send, but even a little bit helps, I know.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

We can do this folks:
Sammie really needs that doggie wheelchair. I'm pledging $10 which unfortunately is all I can afford right now. I challenge each of you to match my contribution. You can spend $10 and never even realise where its' gone. Why not spend it in a place that will give a dog a new lease on life? You all know Luna. She's a long time member as well as a moderator. I know we don't usually do this but I really feel we should make an exception in this case. In order to protect Luna's privacy, PM her if you can find it in her heart to donate and she will give you the address.
Sometimes, it takes very little by a few big hearted individuals to make an enormous change in the life one one disabled dog. I truly hope that those of you who are able will take a little time out of your busy lives to help Sammie.
Luna, please PM me your address or wherever it is that I should send the money.

This is where the money goes. ChipIn: My dog's wheelchair I won't see any of this money. It will all go straight to Eddies Wheels when we reach our goal. Eddies Wheels| Rear Wheel Cart
Eddies Wheels said today that the wheelchair will only cost $495.00 plus shipping and handling. I don't know how much shipping and handling is, so as soon as I hear back, I will adjust my chipin so it doesn't collect as much money. So without shipping and handling, we only need $150.00 more. Who can donate so we can pay for Sammie's wheelchair today?
Shipping is going to cost $100.00 due to the size of the cart. yipes.

Awesome on the contributions! There are good people in the world! I hope you reach your goal for Sammie soon. That #100 shipping sucks though. There's no way around huh?

Nope. Eddies Wheels said that due to the size of the cart, they need to ship it in a wardrobe box, which costs $100.00.
We currently have $350.00. I have chipin set to stop collecting money at $575.00. The cart costs $495.00 and $30.00 extra for bigger wheels and $100.00 for shipping. That is $625.00 total. So it will cost us more than I originally though instead of less. I am only off about $50.00 though. So it's not that bad. We can pay for that ourselves if we don't get it from donations.
We have $400.00 now. Sammie's former owner is mailing to us $50.00 to pay for the rest of the shipping cost that won't be covered by this chipin donate thingy we have going on.

Tried to make my donation. Clicked on the orange button in the upper right hand corner and nothing happens. Wondering if there is a problem. Will try again in the morning and let you know if it worked.

Still not working.
Tried several times and it won't even load. Could it have something to do with my being in Canada? The only way I think of to resolve this is, I'll sent the money to you and you can sent it onto them.

Ok. Sounds good. It's going to cost $100.00 for the shipping, so we could use it. Thank you!
I don't think it has anything to do with being in Canada. A few Canukistanians donated. Maybe your computer won't allow it. Maybe your spam blocker blocked it. It's ok.

We have reached our goal! We can now give Eddies Wheels the money for Sammies Wheelchair and they can start making that. I will have to post pics as soon as we get it and get Sammie in it.

Good! Good!!
I am so glad for both you and Sammie! I didn't realize the chair had to be custom made. Do you have to take Sammie for a 'fitting' or how is it done--Maybe you just send her measurements? Guess you won't take her for a fitting as it must not be a place near you or you'd be able to pick it up when it is finished and save all that postage!
Lol, just answered all my questions and Maine is a long way from you. I just clicked on this Eddy' link you gave. It was interesting reading--Sounds like a super good place to get 'state of the art!'
