Default Terrible two's a month early

So Akita's generally have to ages where they can be absolutely terrible...When they mature at the age of 2 and then at the age of 5..Well Seigi will be 2 on March 1st and he's already started..He seems to have forgotten he was ever trained..he's now decided he can take food off the table which he has never ever done,he's digging out every corner of his kennel, when you tell him to sit he looks at you like you have four heads..he goes to the window and just randomly barks at whom ever or whatever he sees..He drags his bed through the house trying to kill it and then tries to rip the stuffing out of it,he's decided that jumping on people is perfectly exceptable,he refuses to be brushed and of course he's going through his winter coat blow and now he begs you to go outside and when you get up to take him he just stands there and refuses to go!!!

I think he's worse then my kids were at the age of 2 if that's possible..I pray his 3rd birthday comes fast and that my sanity holds out that long!!

He has the same birthday as me. I was born March 1st also. Since I was born on the 1st, my birthday lasts the whole month. Porter has stages like this, and Buster has recently decided that his reflection is a threat to him and barks incessantly at his reflection in the window. Porter managed to get himself stuck in the cat house at the back of our property and we had to rip the roof off to get him out because he's retarded and pushes harder when he meets any type of resistance.

That's okay Seigi insists that if he charges head first into the kennel gate he'll be able to catch the squirrels and you can always tell when he's taken a poop because he comes in the house and runs back and forth from the living room to the dining room and then spends a few seconds running in circles trying to catch his tail which he apparently hasn't figured out is attached to his body and won't come off no matter how hard he pulls!

Oh fun for you!! And you do mean male Akitas right? Seriously, right? LOL The past couple of weeks I've been so impressed with Kuma, thinking she was seriously maturing.

You don't think it's just the winter blues making them a little nuts?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

That a possibility Lange but sorry honey the terrible twos applies to the males and females..Some don't go through it quite as bad as others but just my luck I have one who wants to push it to the limit lol.

LOL He wants to keep you on your toes. What fun would an easy dog be anyway?

What is so awesome for me is you & Seigi get to walk me through any stages and delusions I might have. With Kuma being 3 months younger, I get a nice heads up of the coming months.

I just keep reminding myself that he'll be 3 yr.s old soon..Of course then there's the wonderful age of 5 when a lot Akita's especially the males become instint cranky butts and their tolerance for certain things goes to zero in a quick minute..I have to admit though Seigi makes up for his being a jerk with all the love not to mention silliness he shows us.

So in other words, 5 years old = 99 year old. I love that Akita goofy- lovingness. Wrigley is the opposite of a goofball. Kuma brings that zest for life & laughs out here. Sometimes to Wrigley's displeasure. LOL

Well, youre not quite out of the woods yet if your planning on adding another in the next couple years. And I'm betting you will. lol That's what I have been thinking about. But I don't think our house is ready just yet. Every couple weeks I start scoring the net looking at adoptable Akitas & breeders. I have to tell myself to stop looking! What about you?

We definitely want another one all though after seeing Seigi's interaction with Chance it would for sure have to be a female..My breeder is the only one I would get a pup from and she just had her litter for the year which was 3 males so hopefully next years litter will produce some females..I would've liked one from this past litter since Seigi's dad Winter was the sire but like I said they were 3 males..
