Default Getting fixed?

I have been wondering whether I should get my purebred Beagle pup fixed. My first dog was already fixed before I got her from the Humane Society. What are the benefits to getting them fixed? What have you guys done in this situation?

Unless you are planning on breeding him I do advise getting him neutered as they can be a little be alof as well as if the can smell a bitch on heat that can encourage them to wander. Not that having an entire dog is a bad thing as my previous dog maddie(RIP) was an entire bitch and I was very close to the people that owned the stud dog I used to breed her to and he was a lovely dog, but they were very experienced breeders.

Thanks for the input. Since this is my 2nd dog, and the first that wasn't fixed before I got them, I wasn't sure about it. I have considered breeding, but not given a great deal of thought into it. Is there a certain age they have to be fixed by if you plan on doing that?

Default Age Question

Typically dogs must be at least 6 months old before they can be fixed. But some vets might allow sooner. I agree with the other person's recommendation about the spaying or neutering. Plus getting a dog fixed especially at the earliest possible age, helps to keep the aggression level down. This well make it easier for you to have a calmer and sweeter puppy dog.

I definitely recommend getting him done, and please don't breed from him. I would actually recommend letting him mature before the op - wait until 12 months as long as you can ensure he will never get opportunity to mate.
