Default I am so upset

ok I met my friend she said she sells and breeds bulldogs and I said I was interested, so I went over there to see the pups they looked healthy full bred and clean. So I ask her if I could get papers or I wasnt going to buy him. She said yes when you want the papers we will send in for them. So I bought the puppy when it was 4 weeks old. After we got him we ask for the papers they said they would send in for them. we waited and waited for a call that never came. Turns out they moved!!!!

Whatta I do???????? :?:

Oh dear, sorry to hear your story.

Firstly, this puppy was far to young to be taken at just 4 weeks old. I would recommend you buy a good puppy book to ensure you get some good early socialisation etc. in as this puppy has missed out of some of the crucial lessons from it's mother on how to behave as a dog. So you'll need to ensure you work on socialisation and bite inhibition with him.

As far as the papers goes, if the breeder has done a runner there's not much you can do if you can't trace them. However, why do you need papers anyway - were you hoping to show or breed? If not, then you don't really need to have him registered. Unfortunately, this is just one of the many cases of breeders who are not doing a good job and certainly not doing justice to the dogs they are bringing into the world.

Good luck and with a bit of time and patience, I'm sure you will have a beautiful dog, so paperwork will not matter.

you can get and ILP number for him go to www.alc.org and click on register and you should see somthing about an ILP number that will tell you what to do but it costs like 35 dollars
and thats what you do if you wanted to compete with him (but you can't take him to actual dog shows though)

Hey I dont think the paperwork should be really difficult. Though it would cost you some bucks but it would be worthwhile for the kind of pet that you have got. As far as having the pet so early, well I feel that pets learn things by themselves and dont have to remain with their mother to learn basic things. This puppy would be like a ball of clay and would be learning things from you. So be sure to teach him the right things and he would be a source of great recreation for you.

What is the minimum age that a puppy is meant to leave its mother?

Isnt it unhealthy to take a puppy from its mother so soon?

Also when can they start eating puppy food?

yes it is very bad to take a puppy that is that young it needs the mothers milk to get things to stop it getting sick as it is growing up. if the puppy was sold at 4 weeks it was taken of the mothers milk far to young to be healthy. They should at least be 6 weeks old when you get them. i got mine at 8 weeks it is so much better for them.

8 weeks is the ealiest...4 weeks is WAY too young and not good at all. It is very important they not betaken too early...That breeder is obviously a terrible, unethical breeder- I feel very sorry for the dogs she owns

Yeah I thought it was bad It just sounded too early.

I will keep this in mind as Im looking for a puppy so now I know what age they should be as I dont want to end up with a sick pup now do I!

Also what can she do to improve the pups chances? Is there any substitue milk she can buy? To help improve its health?
