What type of dog is it? What kind of bath is it exactly? Full tub or just spray her/him down and soap up and rinse?
Why do you bath the dog so often? Gets dirty quickly, feels greasy, or is it smell related?
Most people would think once a week often for most dogs... smaller dogs with longer hair however sometimes may need more frequent bathing.... let us know the details and we'll be happy to give our opinions

I think there are a couple of other threads running on this subject, Rox.

There are differing opinions.

I once hosed my dog down when he jumped in a stinking mud bath. Other than that, never.

I normally wash my dog with dog shampoo whenever I bath him. There should be no problem when shampooing him since its shines his hair and don’t forget his conditioner. This is my opinion though. Just remember that too much is not good for people or even animals

We usually bathe our dogs, the puppy gets the whole tub treatment while the adult gets hosed/lathered/rinsed because he doesn't like tubs, about once a month. We usually use flea shampoo because we can't seem to get rid of the fleas in the backyard.

It definately depends on the kind of dog you have. I usually bathe my dogs 1-2 times a month. They seem to get really bad dandruff if I bathe them more frequently. Some dogs can be bathed more often with no problems.

I normally bath my dog once every couple of months (unless she has been in the river, or rolling about in the mud!!).

I am always conscious that I want her to be clean, but excessive bathing must take away some of her own natural body chemicals which keep her hear and skin healthy.

I wash my dogs once a week. I have for years. It does matter what kind of shampoo you are using and what kind of dog you have.Caring for aging pets
