Default Dog Apparel

Does your doggie wear clothes? Mine does. Other people think it’s silly and impractical. Well, I think there is no harm in dressing your dogs. I have a cute and hairy dog and he is even cuter when he wears clothes. I have around 5 shirts, 2 polo shirts and 3 costumes or him. My mother buys clothes for him too.

My friend has a German Shepherd dog and she sometimes dresses her dog in dog clothes.

Im not sure what to think of it to be honest, as it does look quite strange. I have my own dog, but dont think I will ever dress her in clothes.

I do however cover her in a tartan rug at night, if she looks cold!!

I went to a dog show in the local park and they had dressed some of them up. One was dressed as a footballer and was known as Dane Rooney (a Great Dane). Another one - a greyhound - had a spiderman outfit on, but its tights kept coming off.

It was funny to watch but I don't think it's entirely practical.

My house dogs all wear clothes sometimes. Especially when I know company is coming over. If I take one or two of them to town with me I always try to dress them up for the occasion. It's a lot of fun and they know now when I dress them up something special is going to happen. My favorites are the soft harnesses and this winter we will be using a lot of coats and sweaters. I also love the bling on their collars.

If I had a smaller dog I would definitely dress him/her up. I think it would be fun and really cute.

Personally I don't put my dog in clothes and I don't agree with dressing dogs up for fun.Altough I can see the benefit of boots and coats in the winter!

I am considering trying to put a shirt on one of my dogs. The one dog that I refer to, doesn't seem to like getting under a blanket or anything, and would rather ball up and shiver.

My dogs will occasionally agree to put on a nice sweater when they are cold. They're usually pretty stubborn about it though.

Default practicality of clothes

Is dog apparel impractical? Sometimes. When I first got my toy breed, (my first dog ever under 80 lbs), I was like, "I'm not gonna be one of those freaks who dresses their dog up in silly clothes. But, wanting to gain some knowledge on Yorkies before I got mine, I read a couple of books, and they stated that breeds that small can't easily retain body heat. And being that I live in New England, the dog really does need a sweater or jacket in the winter to help him keep warm. However, once you get a sweater, that can EASILY snowball into more shirts, jackets, polos, t-shirts, and hundreds of other things. Now my dog's clothes literally take up an entire drawer in my bureau. It started off as a necessity, and turned into an addiction. Oh well.
