I'm sure they've dealt with aggressive dogs before and take percautions. Give them a call before you go to make sure.

I can tell you right now, I would not take this dog to Petco or Petsmart. You dog already seems to have some issues with people, and I would not reccomend either of these places. I would contact a local Professional run Grooming shop. the Smaller the better. you are going to want someone you trust, nd who will give the dog the attention he needs. A Place with a more home like atmosphere, that way it is less stressful for the dog. I would meet with the groomer, explainyou problems,a nd let them tell you how they would handle the situation, and go from there. I would also work on socialising the dog, get him in an obidience class, those classes are great for socialising a dog, with people as well as other dogs. You woud be suprised at how many dogs do better with strangers than their own owners as far as grooming goes! Good luck!

Find a grooming shop that has experience with nasty dogs. When someone calls me and sets up a grooming and "forgets" to tell me their dog is nasty, it really is difficult for both of us. Most really good groomers will ask you what he bites about and will have a clean, well run facility. in my shop there are four full-time groomers so don't necessarily go with a "tiny" shop. All of us have been grooming for 15 yrs or more, so just ask questions. If the dog is that bad and can't be groomed without sedation, then you have WAY deeper problems going on. Just be honest with the groomer, and if you feel right about his/her attitude towards the dog then good! Don't make the mistake a lot of owners do when you leave him there, though, and worry or coddle him. It only makes his unstable behavior worse.

I am sure that the groomer will have had experience with dealing with agressive dogs. Sometimes if the dog is too agressive they will charge you more though. But with your dog being a small one it might be easier to handle. I would tell them ahead of time of course that you fear your dog will show agression.

If your dog will not let you groom him, chances are he is not going to let a professional groomer groom him either, especially if he has a tendency to bite, most groomers probably will not be willing to take that chance. I would definately discuss this situation with your veterinarian to see what he/she can recommend. Good Luck.

I'm sure they have all dealt with aggressive and cranky dogs before yours. They can put a muzzle on him so that he doesn't bite any of the staff. Call the place you are going to go to and tell them about your dog. If they don't have any experience with aggressive dogs, ask for references to other places who have had dogs with the same problem as yours.

if he is really that aggressive then petco probably won't be able to do him. They are allowed to use muzzles, but whats the use if he won't let them get it on him? I would recommend you try a vet for sedative grooming.
