Queensland Heeler female. Aggressive docile and alert...Need to be introduced to children in the beginning prone to nip due to their cattle dog tendencies....Awsome pet compact and really smart.

Please do not buy a dog for protection unless the dog has been professionally trained for protection work.If you are looking for a dog that will bark to alert you to strangers, they all do that.As far as working dogs that are easy to groom and friendly, look for a short haired dog. Rottweilers tend to be popular. If you get the dog from a good breeder they will be friendly, but will alert to strangers.

American Bulldogs--particularly females, are very protective of their families. They are great with kids, though, like all bulldogs (french, Ole' English etc) they do have allergies. They are also rare, so they can cost up to $1500.German Shepard, Rottweilers, Labrador retrievers and Mastiffs are also great breeds to have around kids who will do anything to protect their family. All of them need just basic grooming.

The best of all these groups that is easier to groom would be a German Shephard. Most other breeds of working dogs are long-haired.

Ahahahahaha! You want a Guard Dog that is Very Friendly?Oh I know. How bout 'Goofy?'I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself. Get a German Shepard or Lab puppy and raise it to understand commands. When dogs have manners & are trained well (with love), they can do anything.Be Happy, Lynnda~~
