The purpose of shots, (vaccinations) is to prevent for communicable dieseases and infections dogs can get from being outside or in contact with other dogs. It is IMPERATIVE to get him vaccinated before you take him to a place where many dogs have been and are still there. Really, you should get dogs and cats vaccinated when they are around 5-8 weeks.

Most responsible groomers require that dogs have all their shots before getting groomed. It not only assures their safety, but also assures the saftey of all the other dogs being groomed. A quick Vet trip first, would be the best for the dog anyway, so get that done ASAP, THEN make the grooming second on your list.

Your dog should have his shots for HIS sake, regardless of whether or not he goes to a groomer. In response to your question, yes, most groomers require proof of vaccinations before they will take them in. This is not only to protect the groomer but also all the other dogs the groomer sees.

Most groomers will require the dogs to have his shots but some of the smaller pet stores with groomers do not. There is a place near my home that does not require proof of shots.
