Help with clippers

Hello all!

I groom dogs for people as well as do my own dogs. I can do everything but extensive work with clippers. I always end up with a choppy looking dog. I am going to apply at a dog grooming place so hopefully I will get more experience through that but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on using clippers?
