where do you get your dog groomed?
I take my dog to petsmart to get him groomed. I'm satisfied with their services. They are really nice and give me advices all the time. However I never get to see him groomed. There is no waiting area or sitting area. Also who knows what's happening inside that closed doors. My dog seems to like getting groomed there. So I might just stick with it. Do you get your dogs groomed at petsmart? if you do are you satisfied with their services? If you didn't like it where do you take your dogs now? I know every petsmart is different so i'll take that into consideration. thanksalso...do you prefer petsmart or petco???Personally, I've never been to petcoDali, I totally understand your point. And I'm not one of those people who call every 1/2hrs. Actually I love those 3-5 hrs when my puppy is getting groomed cause I can get my stuff done since I'm with my dog 24/7. I'm sure you are a good groomer...it's just that not all groomers are nice and careful.

I do most grooming at home, but for a bath and brush I take him to PetSmart and it's been OK. There are something that I'm not crazy about. He is a maniac to try and clip his toenails, we have to do it at home, works the best. But when we first got him I took him to PetSmart and they couldn't clip his nails, he kept pulling away and they couldn't contain him, so they only clipped one nail and charged us anyways (I feel there should have been some sort of discount for only trimming one nail).
I am convinced that it's not where you take them but who you take them too. Find a groomer you like and that your dog like and does a good job and stick with them. If PetSmart is working for you then stick with it, you can ask for the same groomer each time, if that helps.

I am a groomer at Petco. As the pervious person stated, what goes on in the salon in the back is the bathing and blow drying process, or they are in their kennel. Our salon is all glass in the front where the haircuts actually take place. It does make it more difficult to do when the pet knows his owner is standing there watching as they become excited and don't want to stand still for the grooming process. If you want to watch your pet get groomed, please do so from a distance. But if you are satisfied with your current groomer and your pet seems to be happy, by all means, stick with your groomer.

I take Josie to Pet Supplies Plus. They're really nice there, and I can tell they like working on Josie. She always shakes when I take her for grooming, but she shakes when there are loud noises next door to where I live, so I think it's just her timidity showing, plus she knows I'm going to be leaving her for a while with people she doesn't know real well, and she sure doesn't like that! But I like it there because not only do they do a good job, but there are outside windows all along the outside of the building where they are and the door dividing the groomers and the rest of the store is a half-door. So any customer or employee there could see inside at any time, or hear anything that might be really disturbing, and put a stop to anything wrong that might be happening. But I can't imagine that, because both ladies who work there are just really super. Still, it's nice to have that extra public reassurance, especially after a story in the news not long ago about what happens at some of these grooming places, with dogs being injured or even dying.
Plus, right after she's done, Josie and I go to the treat/toy aisles to get her a reward for being so good, and that makes both the store and Josie very happy indeed!
