brush? Shih Tzu, Bishon Frise, and Pomerainien.becasue i'd like to buy one without haveing to take more then one vet tip a year just for grooming.

If that is the case, then these are not the dogs for you. except for the pomeranian, these dogs do not shed, and need to be trimmed at least every 3 months or so, otherwise their coats will get hopelessly matted. They also need to be brushed out at least once every few days, and bathed every few months, that is why taking them to be groomed is the usual way to care for their coat.small dog grooming is not very expensive.

No, you don't HAVE to take these dogs to be groomed. But it's highly recommended that if you don't get them professionally groomed that you should brush them often and bath them once in a while. i've worked for 3 years at a vet's office that offers grooming and i would have to say that a large portion of dogs that we groom are shih-tzu's and bichon's. Pomeranians (i have one)don't tend to mat up as easily and don't seem to require more than a regular brushing
