Question siberian husky shedding

We have a 3yr old siberian husky. she usually sheds quite a bit,but around the end of july thru august she sheds like quardruple the usually amount. i understand losing her coat b/c we live in florida, but we have tried everything and need a new method for keeping it under control. we have probably 6-7 different kinds of brushes and sit for hours upon hours just brushing her and it doesn't seem to let up! please help if you can suggest something we might not have tried it would be greatly appreciated!

thanks
Amanda & Dillon

Have you tried a "Furminator" comb? It pulls out the loose undercoat which is hard to get with regular brushes. It's not a miracle or anything, but it does help with getting alot of the excess hair. I have brushed mine, taken them to the groomer to get brushed and bathed and the hair keeps on flying. The furminator comb seemed to help the most, but with a Husky there's hair. Their cute looks and smart personalities makes up for it though.

i hope you read this before you go waste your money. if hours of brushing is not for you then dont buy the furminator. yeah it will get hair out. but you cant really use it for longer than 20 minutes as it is very prone to causing skin irritation. and it takes forever to actually get a result from it. for minimul shedding, it probabkly works fine. but for a husky? it will NEVER get the job done.i am a groomer, and i do not use this tool because it is very inefficient. im sure every brush you have is beter than this one, and cheaper too.

if it is getting ridiculous, take the dog to the groomer. they will blow the coat out with a high velocity dryer. if you really want to tackle the issue yourselves, then save up and by oneof these. after 15 minutes of using this, you will get more hair out than the furminator could in a week. they are expensive but they are worth it.

*Jumps up and down** Woo go Purplex! I totally agree here and I'm one of the few selected people who don't like the FURminator. The FURminator is just a stripping knife in a plastic handle and although the Siberian Husky is a seasonal shedder this dog isn't traditionally hand stripped but just a general bath and brush out. I'm a groomer like Purplex and a high velocity dryer Before a bath will blow out alot of the loose undercoat, the more you do with the dryer, the less work you'll need to do with brushing. Other than that the best way to get the undercoat out is to use a slicker and greyhound comb and line brush the ENTIRE dog. The neck and chest along with the pants of this dog can get really dense with hair so focus on these parts first. If you're not up to the challenge then take it to your groomer.
