Default A little sheding from our shih tzu puppy

Our 16 week old shih tzu puppy (Cocoa) is starting to shed a little. Is this normal? He had gotten his first hair cut 2 weeks ago. He is happy and playful and loves to run in the back yard. He eats his puppy chow good too. Just making sure it is okay that he is shedding some at this age. Thanks for any comments.

Shih Tzu's are a naturally long haired breed and are considered a non-shedding dog. In my experience as a dog groomer, I have never seen a dog that never sheds. Smooth and short coated dogs will shed all year round and double, combination and heavy coated breeds will only shed in the warmer months however all dogs will loose some hair all year round and this should be no cause for alarm.
