Blow Drying Your Dog's Hair
Hello everyone!
How many times do you wash your dog in a day or in a week? Is it OK to blow dry my dog's hair everyday?

I bathe my dogs once a month. They usually don't need to be bathed more often than that unless they have a medical issue, are being actively shown, or spend their time playing in stuff that stinks.
That said, you can bathe them as often as they need it so long as you use a mild shampoo and rinse really well. Shampoo residue will leave the hair dull, contribute to matting, and make your dog itch.
You can blow dry your dog, use a cool air setting, and if you're doing it frequently get a good leave in conditioning spray.

I very much agree with vetgroomer. I don't blow my dog's hair everyday. I'm kinda afraid that it would damage his fur.

do you blow dry
My dog is a therapy dog and we visit in a hospital every week so he needs to be clean before he goes in.
I would like to shampoo him every visit, but in the winter he can get dry and flakey so sometimes I have to just spot clean (face, paws and privates) and damp wipe him all over to fluff him up.
If for some reason we aren't visiting the hospital for a few weeks, I typically don't wash him. Though after a few weeks I find he's less soft and gets a little rank smelling when he gets wet.
As for blow drying. I have a 60lb labradoodle. His coat is a bit curly and varies from 2-4 inches long (though I rarely let it get longer than 3 inches). I dry him with the shop vac, and do it outside (weather permitting) or in the garage or basement. The shop vac has a really powerful blower so it makes quick work of the job and also helps to send any loose hairs flying. It does a nice job of puffing him up.
I currently also have a little shih tzu in my care. I use the human hairdryer on her, but you need to be careful not to use too much heat. Don't want to dry the hair out or burn the skin.

I bathe my dogs every two weeks, depending on how stinky they are. I also blow dry their fur, but I just do it on a low heat setting.

My dog is terrified of the hair dryer, so we have to be content with toweling off the best we can, and then let her air dry naturally.

It depends what type of dog you have and the coat you are dealing with. Many breeds with "hair" such as poodles, yorkies, bichons, maltese, etc. need to be bathed about once a week. However, such frequent bathing is not recommended for breeds such as labs and German Shepherds because you would dry out their fur coats.
Show dogs who have hair coats can be bathed as often as four times in a row - once a day for four days if they are being shown in what is known as "clusters." However, the handlers only use a cool hair dryer, and the very highest quality in dog grooming products to keep these coats from drying out. Such frequent washing is not advisable for pet dogs.

i wash my dog at least twice a week but i don't use the blow dryer because i'm afraid that he might be uncomfortable with the heat coming from the blower itself.

I bathe my pup once a week to make sure that she smells good and look healthy. If you want to use a blow dryer, make sure that it is set on moderate heat so that it won't hurt your dog.
