Why would you take the chance of grooming your dog yourself when he has to participate in a dog show shortly after.

The only thing I could recommend is bringing him to a professional groomer and have them trim the surrounding hair in order to make the hair appear more even in length.

Hope this helps!

Why were you using thinners? Borders are supposed to be hand stripped for shows. If the dog was already stripped, you should have just been rolling the coat to keep it in shape.

I'm afraid there isn't much you can do besides wait for it to grow out, and keep roll it. Or wait until the coat is totally blown, then strip and start over.

The "viewers" might not see it, but the judge will. And his/her opinion is the one that counts.

i'm sure you don't but by thinning scissors do you mean stripping knife? and is your dog in full jacket or has he been stripped?i would recomend in the futre if your dog is a show dog that you don't use scissors on his coat

Maybe bringing your pet to a professional groomer can help you hid or fix your problem.

Don't bring your dog to a professional groomer unless they are experienced with handling SHOW TERRIER coats... the average pet groomer will only make your problem worse (even with the best intentions).
