Default Grooming a Shih-Poo

I know very little about grooming my new dog. What's the best way to brush out his coat? The best kind of shampoo? He's got some matting around his belly. He's very timid and scared to death, but his fur needs some work. Or should I just take him to a groomer?

Thanks!

I would recommend taking him to a groomer or better yet finding a groomer that can come to you and set up in your home or that brings a mobile van. Make sure you can stay and watch the grooming (if they do not allow it - RED FLAG) you may or may not stay, some dogs get more stressed if their owners are present but you want to make sure you have the option.

This mix should be professionaly groomed every 3-6 weeks and your groomer can teach you how to brush between groomings.

Feel free to ask any other questions... I have been a house call groomer for close to 13 years and am always happy to answer questions.
