Default Nail trimmer

My chihuahua, Chaucer, has to have his nails trimmed about every 2 weeks. I don't want to have to take him to a groomer so we use a Pedi-buffer trimmer which basically grinds off his nails. He doesn't like it too much but it works pretty well. I bought mine at biglots for $10 but ive seen them elsewhere for around $20. Im not sure how well it would work for bigger dogs but for small dogs it is great! Has anyone else tried this on big or small dogs?

Default Way too chicken to cut my girls nails!

I admit it. I'm a dyed-in-the-blood-wuss! I take my girls to a place called Pampered Paws every two months to get their nails trimmed. I'm too afraid of cutting too much off and making them bleed. Lara's nails are white so, I suppose it would be a bit easier but, Bailey's are black and thick. I'm too afraid of hurting them to do it myself. To me, it's worth the money to have an expert do it.

Default just bought one

i just bought a pair for 27.00 didnt have any cheaper ones to compare with. I have only used it once and i am trying to get both dogs use to them. Mia the year old with white nails is scared of it but i finally got her relaxed enough before i tried again this time with better luck. Try and make sure the dog is relaxed before using them. Spaz on the other hand does not like his paws touched at all, so he is going to be more of a challenge. Good luck I thing these pedicures are better for the dog that nail trimmers.

I tried the "pedi-paws" with my dane, but she won't stay still long enough for me to use them. I guess it may work well with small dogs, but the amount of time and work it takes for my big girl just isn't worth it.

I have a pair of Millers Forge for dogs. It's an awesome clipper and the same thing the groomers use in most petshops in our area.

i have the pedipaws, but as a groomer i found very few dogs will let me near them with it, i think because of the noise. i then bought a little dremel stylus and touch wood every dog has been ok with them because they are quiet, on the lower speed. on alot of dogs i still clip their nails then tidy them up with the dremel.

I use the Kramar nail clippers for my pup. I bought it on ebay, very cheap and easy to use.

we tried the pedi-paws for our golden retriever and it just doesn't have enough power to grind his nails efficiently. He is the type to let you do anything to him but even he cant sit there for an hour to slowly grind his nails. I think maybe it is just better for small dogs.

I have a good ol' nail grinder from Oster. It's easy to use, powerful for any breed of dog and gets the job down without worry about cutting the quik. It's what dog groomers and handlers have been using for years! Stick to the old and it will probably prove its worth!
