Exclamation Earle Here is Your Message--Please Advise This New Member --Very Sick Dog!!

I (Corky/Max) am putting this message here for a new member who has a life-threatening situation with his Golden Retriever. He had posted the original message in his visitor section on his home/profile page where hardly anyone would see it. I sure hope someone can help this poor dog!!

The more I think about it--and it may not be easy to do there--but I hope you go to a different vet who may be more knowledgeable. It sounds to me like this vet may also have botched the operation. Your dog is going to die if you don't do something about this infection!!

Here is the message:

earle reuben
We have a Golden Retriever who is 6.5 years old. She was partly spayed when she was 6 months old and 2 months ago she had hysterectomy done. She is resistent to most of the known antibiotics.

There is a constant stream of pus and now the pus is coming out her vagina along with blood. The vagina too is swollen and dilated.

We are at a loss and do not now what to do. The vet here at Indonesia too is at a loss and he is unable to help our dog.

If anybody knows of a cure please help.

It could be vaginitis. Has the vet checked her for a UTI? Vaginitis of itself is not horrible but what is more important is the cause behind it.
Here's some info: Home Remedy for Canine Vaginitis | eHow.com
and
Dog Vaginitis: MyPetED Vet on Causes of Vaginitis in Dogs, Treatment

Will you pm the new member so he can read this thread? Otherwise I doubt he'll find it.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I so hope you are right Yogi. I looked up on net about false pregnancy in dogs. Here are some sites to check out:

Canine False Pregnancy

Signs and Symptoms of Phantom Pregnancy in Dogs | eHow.com

How to Treat Phantom Pregnancy in Dogs | eHow.com

Please do not assume that this is the problem unless it is confirmed as your dog could get worse if this is not what is happening!! I don't understand IF THIS IS A FALSE PREGNANCY--Why wouldn't your vet know this!!?

There are many sites on this subject if you will put-dog false pregnancy--in your browser.

Please keep us posted or we will be worrying how your dog is! As I mentioned when I private messaged you--I love Golden Retrievers so have a special regard for them--Not that I wouldn't still be concerned no matter what breed it was! What is your dog's name?

Yogi--It sounds like a dog shouldn't have a false pregnancy if she was already spayed? And Earle--What do you mean she was partly spayed--which would have been 6 years ago! And just had a hysterectomy 2 months ago----Could this be an infection from that or is it a false pregnancy?? How long has this problem been going on? How is your dog acting---Does she seem sick? Have a fever? Eating normally ---What kind of symptoms does she have that would not apply to a false pregnancy?
It just seems to me that there are 'bells going off'' ---That should be able to tell if a false pregnancy is able to happen or not because of what this poor dog has already had done to her previously. Yogi--You know more about this subject then I do--Is there a clue in all this that can tell you whether things are still possible or not? Darn, where is Mr. Vega?!

Hey Lange ---For some reason I didn't see your post until after I posted my last one! And for some stupid reason/mistake--I meant to post this thread under Health and Nutrition My curser must of 'jumped' at the wrong moment and I had private messaged Earle that I was moving this message to Health and Nutrition!! I put a link to this thread in the Health and Nutrition section so people could find it better! (Hard to explain but I think I got it covered now!

Would love to get an update on this one, since I'm curious as to what really happened. It sounds very alarming to say the least.:!:
