I try to brush my dogs teeth, but its alot easier saying it than doing it lol.

Should you use toothpaste? If so should it be flavourless?

My dog prefers to eat the toothpaste & tooth brush lol.

i wouldnt suggest using human toothpaste on a dog..there are special dog toothpastes available in pet shops..that probably taste better to the dog.

which reminds me..i should go get some soon...

I found some meat toothpaste in the store the other day & bought it, and yep she would still rather eat the toothpaste lol.

Is it required to bursh your dogs teeth? Is it a good thing? Whats the benifits? How often should you do it? What type of brush should you use?

I hate to admit this, but I don't brush either of our dogs' teeth. We do buy them those Denta-bones every 6 months or so though. Those are supposed to help with any plaque build-up. I feed them dry dog food, which the vet told us helps prevent major build-up and it's better for their teeth too.

Easier said than done. I brush he's teeth twice a month if I'm lucky.

I've never brushed any of my dogs teeth. I suppose it depends what you feed them on though.
Mind you, I've had dogs all eating the same stuff and some get a build up and others don't.
My current hound doesn't seem to get any build up at all.

I'd actually like to know if most of the dogs that get their teeth brushed, take to it OK?

I would think it was a bit of a strange sensation for an older dog that hasn't had this done from being a puppy.

I've never brushed any of mine, and could see it turning into a bit of a game when it came to sticking a 'stick' into their mouths.

I brush my Lhasa Apso's teeth after every bath. That's once a week. Gosh, it's so hard to do. My doggie doesn't want me sticking the toothbrush to his mouth. :-( I don't brush my mutt's teeth. He is not used to it. I give Dentabone instead. He is happier that way.

Never ever use human's toothpaste. It's not good for the dogs. Buy your dog toothpaste from a pet shop.

They have special dog toothbrushes and toothpaste which we use.
But just like us humans, brushing teeth does not work for everything. We do get our dogs teeth cleaned by the vet on a regular basis, they'll tell you how often it should be done
