Default special food for pregnant dogs?

should i be adding any nutrients to a pregnant dog's food?..or is there a special brand of food she should be eating?..

or is the regular dog chow sufficient enough?

When my parent's dog was pregnant, years ago, they fed her puppy chow. Many of the dog food brands now make a puppy version, and if you look close, most of them read 'For pregnant/nursing dogs and puppies' somewhere on the bag. I think its usually on the side with the feeding instructions.

I agree...I did the same thing with my past dog when she was pregnant.

What type of dog food is she currently eating? You do need to up the fat and protein content, and start to slowly increase how much she eats, as well as break it up into smaller meals since the growing puppies will make less room for her stomach so she'll need it spaced out a bit.
She should be on a very very good dog food. Something where the first 4 ingredients should be meat ( nothing that says meant by product) for optimum health...it should be kept in the refrigerator as well.
Nature's Balance dry puppy food would be good. So would Chicken Soup for the dog lovers soul. Might also want to look into raw food diet, some people do half raw food diet, half really high quality kibble.
google dot com is a great place to do searches.

Is the pregnancy planned? How old is she? How much does she weigh? How far along is she?
