Question My puppy is hurt!! HELP!

Hi, my name is Kim and I have a beautiful 3 month old puppy. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that his hind leg looked a little swollen, but he was still running and playing and didn't seem to be hurting!! As of today, he won't put any pressure on that leg and the swelling seems a lot worse. Of course it's the weekend and no vet is open. Any advice on how to help him till I can get him to a vet???

Unhappy your puppy's leg

Hi KIm
I hope you go to an emergency room for your dog.. vet emerg.
If the pup won't put weight at all on her leg.. its broken.

it could also be some type of arthritis or sprain, where did you get your dog? is it a pure bred? Some back yard breeders breed dogs with health problems and could cause problems with the ACL or other muscle problems so you definitely need to get the puppy looked at, and in the future, if you notice any type of swelling you definitely need to get to a vet immediately...it is not normal for a dog to have a noticeable swell in the legs, it is something rather serious.
In the meanwhile, I would suggest trying to find a very low sodium puppy food to mix with his normal diet, since dog foods are very high in salt and that increases swelling. Also look into administrating baby ibuprofen to help with the pain and swelling as well. Massage his leg if he'll let you, and apply heat or cold packs, depending on which makes him feel better.
