We just got over a flu bug here and now our dog just started having diarrhea, and our cat is now puking(not hair balls, just liquid). I am wondering if they could get the same flu we have or is it just a coincidence?

Some animals an catch the flu or cold from humans. I would suggest getting them to a vet immediately though because loose stool in a dog and vomiting liquid in a cat is not normal and can be very dangerous if it happens more than a few times due to hydration issues as well as the underlying cause for the problem.
