Hi Carol, just came across your post and thought I'd take the opportunity to share some info on systemic enzymes for dogs and plug my own company at seacoastvitamins.com.
We have a lot of customers who do use
wobenzym for their dogs (sometimes cats and other mammals), and we were actually were approached by a manufacturer that makes an enzyme blend specifically for dogs, called "
Dog Pain Away."
Wobenzym is great if you can get it to the dogs, and like you, our customers are having success. You might have more success with the Dog Pain Away, because they're actual chews with a natural flavor. There's not a huge difference though, but the dog pain away has some turmeric and other anti-inflammatories.
Caveats with the enzymes
They're very acidic. The bromelain in most of the enzyme packages are terrible on your teeth. Have you ever bitten in to a wobenzym? I recommend waiting an hour after your dog has eaten them (so the acid can neutralize), and then brush their teeth.
Another great idea to get your dogs to eat regular wobenzym? Dunk them in
cod liver oil! The dog will love it, and it spruces up dry food. Also, the Omega-3 fatty acids are really good for joint health.
Thanks for the plugs! Hope the information helps.
