If you are feeding your dog a quality kibble or a well researched raw diet, there is no need for any vitamin supplements. Now if you want to give something for joint problems or to prevent them, that's exactly what you should give. Although there are more joint problems in large dogs, small ones can develop arthritis and usually do by the time they are old. There's a lot of joint stress when a little dog has to jump to do steps or to get off the furniture. There are several good joint supplements on the market. I am currently using Arthramine but will be switching to Cosequin for my AmStaff. I don't think I would start a small dog at a young age but probably would by middle age. Oh, my AmStaff is almost 12yrs.
