Default Excessive flatulence

I have a labrador and she is not quite 1 year old yet and she constantly (and I mean constantly) has gas. Is this normal? Is there something I can give her to stop this? I haven't changed her diet or anything like that. Should I talk to my vet about this or is there an over-the-counter remedy?

There are two things you can do. First, raise her food bowl. Raise it so the top is about at her shoulder height. I learned this with my dobie. They have a problem with this that can make their stomachs twist and they have to have surgery and some even die from it. Something about the angle that they are eating at allows too much air into their system -- or something like that. :???:

Second thing, if you feed wet food, add a 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of baking soda to it. {Can't really do it with dry and they don't like taking it straight.} The baking soda helps calm the acid in the stomach AND it makes their gas less lethal.

Thank you! I didn't know that about the placement of the food bowl. I will have to try that from now on.

One of our dogs has the same problem and we've changed his diet a little but it didn't seem to help.
