Default Please Help !!

We have a 6 year old Boxer. Just within the past several months his back right paw started to swell and has turned really red. He will not leave it alone and it looks raw and just bleeds. He is on his second dose of antibotics and it still looks awful. He only has about 3 days of pills left and we will have to take him back to the vet. The vet believes it was some sort of infection but since the medicine is not helping he is concerned is could be a tumor. Does anyone know of anything else we may try to make our guy more comfortable. He just licks it all the time. He is eating well and acting normal, but his paw is very swollen and red. Any suggestions are very welcome.

I think part of the problem is that he's licking it all the time. The constant wetness & friction from the licking is making it worse... Ask the vet if there is a way to keep him from licking it, like maybe a cone around his neck. I don't have any idea why his paw started getting red & sore in the first place.

Wink Here's a couple of tips that worked for me :)

Hey there

my old dog once cut her pads on something like an old can in the water one day and it wouldn't stop bleeding, and yea she wouldn't leave it alone either.

My vet told me either put the cone thing around her head or get those bandages that breath so it wont get more infected but she cant get at it and it also applies a bit of pressure to slow the bleeding.

My girl hated the cone thing!!! wouldn't get off her bed at all so got her the bandage and it was great no probs - she gave up licking at the bandage as i dont think she liked the feeling on her tongue or the taste of it.

I hope its just a sore and all the news comes back from the vet a.o.k!!
