I live in Maine, so it seems late in the season for me, but maybe not where you are. Most dogs, "blow" their coat twice a year. If a dog is inside all the time, it seems to shed more than just the twice a year thing. After all the old hair has blown, you should see a drastic reduction. Rex our GSD blew his 2 months ago, and we had clumps everwhere. I bought an undercoat rake, a slicker brush, and daily grooming spray. Spritzed him lightly once a day, lightly raked, and got alot with that, then finished with the slicker. Everday for about 2 wks, then everthing slowed down. Hope this helps.
If you notice bald spots, that could be flea dermatitis, so you would need to get rid of those pests.
Good Luck!
