Default dog eating trouble

Ok so a couple days ago my dog stopped eating, he wouldnt touch his food we usually feed him 9 &9 is was about 9 that day when we fed him, he never touched his food till 230 that day now i know dogs can be liek us and not eat there food the seccond it is giving to them, but that night he never ate and all the next day he never ate his meals, so i waited over night to see if he would eat. ( i figured if was being picky he would get hungry enough and eat) So today we bought some canned dog food to mix with his dry food and he ate it, but will only eat it if its stirred in really well and he still picks peices out. He is acting completly normal other then the picky eating, he's playing and runing around and everything.

I know if you change a dogs food up alot, not only can it upset there tummy, but also make them picky eaters, but i also herd that dogs can get bored eating the same thing all the time

does anyone has an advice or tips, greatly appreciated!

What do you currently feed? Some dogs will quit eating their food for no good reason, but they won't usually starve themselves unless something is wrong. It's really up to you if you want to change foods or not.

You can get a sample of what I use here:

I check my dogs teeth and gums often, he has really good teeth/gums my boyfriend and i have both checked to see if there was any visible signs of a problem in his mouth but neither of us could see anything, and he's still eats his treats and everything ( well i stopped giving him then when he wasnt eating incase he was being pickey and thought i would just give him treats all the time) and he plays normal, like we have a kong for him and he still is chewing on that and playing with it

He is about 13 months old now,
Also he is eating Pedigree healthy viality, i dont really want to change his food, we are limited to the food we can get ( im in Newfoundland Canada) so getting special foods or better quallity can be alot more expencive then i can afford.i will try just giving him the normal dry food again tonight and see if he eats it, if not i will just stick to mixing in a bit of canned food, because at the moment he will eat it like that

He has not been showing any signs that something is wrong. just the whole not eating his food thing...... but last night and yesterday morning he ate both his meals( mixed with canned)

Sounds a lot like my neighbor's dog. When the dog skips a meal she runs around trying to put canned food in it to make it more appealing, then the dog eats for a few meals and starts not eating again so she'll add mashed potatoes and gravy, etc, etc. My neighbor has changed food more times than I have fingers. If he has no ailments and the vet gives him a clean bill of health I would put his bowl down and get busy doing something. Leave the bowl for 20 minutes. If the dog hasn't eaten it, take it away and refrigerate until next feeding, continue this way until the dog realizes that if he doesn't eat, he doesn't get catered too. Don't feed him treats between meals, otherwise he'll just hold out much longer for the treats.

I herd Changing thier food alot can make them like really picky eaters, so his food never changed just i put a little bit of canned stuff in with it i mean he had not eaten in like 2 days so i had to give him somthing, but today he ate some of the dry food with nothing on it, witch is an improvement so im starting to think he was just having a doggy day or somthing...but he's doing good now, im going to finish up this can of dog food ( not really into waisting money!) and they try him on his dry food alone again, hopefully that's going to work!

I thought about trying a bit of hot water on the food last night, i put some on a plate and put it on the floor and he ate it, then he spilt alot of it on to the floor itself and ate it, and started eating any food that was on the floor that i had spilt ealyer ( nothing on it just dry food), so i put just dry food in his bowl and some hot water, but he only ate a little bit off it, most of whitch was on the floor.. so now im wondering if he doesnt like his bowl. he's a wierd doggy like that so it wouldnt surprise me. im going to try the hot water thing again at supper ( my boyfriend fed him canned/dry this morning) and im going to put it on a plate at see if he will eat it.. if so then ill know if its the dish. if not i dont know what lol...........i have noticed since we have been giving him wet food( usually only like a spoon of it mixed in with the dry) his breath is not as nice smelling, so i'd like to still try and get him out of eating it i dont want him to end up a stinky breathed dog...his breath usually doesnt have any oder.
anyways, ill try the hot water thing again tonight and see!
Thanks everyone for your help!

I am sorry if I come off too strong. But if a food is not hurting a dog, and the dog all of a sudden refuses to eat, vet visit, nothing wrong, eat or go without. Try feeding on a schedule, and after 10 min. with food down, no eating, pick it up. Again, at the next feeding, no eating pick it up. Soon, your dog will say, hey, if I don't eat it goes away! And guess what the eating will happen. A friend of mine, has a Chi, and she refused to eat, wanted people food. My friend, started the regimented feeding, and yeah, the Chi is now eating what she wants her to eat, and not people food!

Right now, so far so good *keeping fingers crossed* my dog is eating good, we tryed the hot water thing that Raggs sujested and he has eaten all of his last few meals, i tryed just dry food today and he wouldnt touch it.. added hot water to it and gave it him again and he ate the whole bowl.

I tryed the taking it away after a few minutes of not eating it and he didn't care, he would not touch the dry food.

So im going to keep trying with the hot water, seems to be working good, the food is on a kitchen floor that is cool and not near any heating vents. so it probably is cold.

I decided not to take him to the vet as he is playing normal and mood is the same everything was normal just the not eating and he would eat if we mixed canned food with it, so i new there was nothing wrong with him physically or nothing too seriuse!

so.. update.. everything is going good!
