Unhappy lumps

Sidney, my 11 year old Golden R/Irishwolf hound developed some lumps a while back that the vet drew fluid out of and diagnosed them as fatty tumors...harmless unless they get really big and become bothersome. So far that has not happened. However, while grooming her yesterday, I discovered two small, hard lumps about the size of a large pea. One is on her chest and one is one her side, up near her front leg. These feel very different from the fatty tumors which are very soft and kind of squishy. She has a vet appointment Monday so we'll see what they say. Anyone have a clue as to what they might be? I'm quite concerned as she has so many health issues and she is my heart and soul! She's seen me through so much and is just my constant companion. I don't know what I'd do without her. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

whew! All is well...the new lumps are just small fatty tumors. Such a relief!

You called them small, but how small is small? I have a friend with the same problem with her dog, and I would like to give encouragement.

These new ones are pretty small, one is the size of a dime and the other maybe quarter size. The old ones that she's had for a few years are on her under side and don't show but there are two of them and they are now about the size of a childs fist. They are flush with her body (they don't hang down like some tumors I've seen) and are about a 1/2 inch thick at their thickest part. They are slow growing and cause her no discomfort. I've had them tested so I know they are fatty tumors and unless they begin to grow fast, pose no problems. They don't show on Sidney due to her long coat. To look at her, you wouldn't know they were there....you have to run your hands over her to find them. Vet says that as Sid gets older she may develop more of them but not to worry...harmless...unless they become really big and uncomfortable or change as in growing rapidly or becoming hard to the touch, which could indicate that they have turned cancerous. Hope this helps.

yeah, and my multi-mix 10yr old boy seems to have inherited the lump factor from several of his "breeds". he's got so many I've lost count now, haha. poor thing gets aspirated for like a half hr straight to check them all, and all lipomas. yeah. but poor dog is getting sick of being "sticked"
glad you got good news on the lumps.
