Default Remedies for Collapsing Esopagus

One of my Toy Poodles, Daisy ,has a Collapsing Esophagus/Trachia; she has always had it, but it has steadlly become worse as she got older. Now she's eleven and she honks and gags quite a bit. She had her anual physcal about i weeks ago, and apart from being a little on te plump side (like her "Mum"), she was pronounced fit as a fiddle. She has been given (and takes) bronchial dilators and cough medicine, butit doesn't really help much.

If there is someone here who has any kind of knowledge of any kind of treatments, I would be so grateful to hear from you.

Luilu

and if it's the esophagus, stricture dilation via endoscopy is the treatment of choice.

Unfortunately, the coughing fit from a collapsing trachea is common in older Toy Poodles. Our first Toy had it pretty bad also towards the end of his life. Poodles are also allergic to lots of things like Helly mentioned.

During the Spring season, I have my Poodles on Benadryl for sneezing and minor scratching. This helps them a lot which was recommended to me by my vet who prefers it to Prednisilone. (sp?)

Good luck and I hope someone else can advise you accordingly.
