I think dogs can live on a vegetarian diet but as your dog is a great dane i think i am going to have to slightly disagree with this.
Are you able to feed your dog eggs? And also as someone suggested with the fish thing but maybe not canned ones as i don't think they are very healthy.
Maybe buy some fish and boil it? with egg and with the beggies maybe broth? and mix it all together.
Hope this helps. All the best.

My pet is diabetic and does eat vegetables, she eats chopped green beans and brocolli, this helps with fiber also, some of the dog foods are adding vegetables to their foods now, keep in mind whats added to pet foods doesn't necessarily mean its the kind of vegetables we eat, some veg's are raised just for pet foods. I am an advocate for vegetables in the diet but your pet will need some meat, in the dogfoods are also essential vitamins they need, if you use vegetables and your own cooked meat you will still need to supplement the diet with a vitamin. You may want to try Orijen or Wellness foods, you can check Itchmo also for different types of foods being some dogs have allergies to certain foods, that may be a start for you, hope this helps.
