because its just plain cruel!Thats animal cruelty!

Well, you've pretty much answered your own question. But another reason is that when dogs are not with their owners in a weird place, they tend to act strange. For example, they might get really anxious and start jumping and scratching the windows, seats or flooring. This might also leave dog hairs everywhere in the car. But it isn't all too bad if it is a fair-temperate day that isn't all too hot. But always leave something for him/her to snack on and drink from depending on how long you'll be gone.
