Question Diagnosis for a Dog? Please Help.

Hey there... first time poster.

Our dog has quite serious problems right now, however we're unsure of what the exact issue may be.

He is a 13 and a half year old Brittany Spaniel who has lead a healthy & active life. But since 2 days ago he hasn't been the same. He can't walk properly; he seems to be favouring the right side of his body... meaning he can only really walk to the left, and finds it hard to walk in a straight line. When he is able to get up and walk around, he usually only manages to walk in clockwise circles, and regularly bumps into things.

He's also been drooling quite a lot, and hasn't been able to wait until he's outside to go to the toilet.

Does this sound like a stroke?

Our dog has also got mild Arthuritus (on medication) and has recently gone pretty much deaf, but until a couple of days ago was fine and very happy.

We are waiting on a blood test from the Vet, but can anyone please give us any information you might have regarding the things I've said. It would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

~ Stewart.

Thanks MGM for the reply.

I'll certainly be taking the advice of the vet which we'll be seeing tomorrow... and we won't be giving up. If it is a stroke, then like you say, we'll just have to wait for him to adapt as best he can to the situation.

Being 13 and a half, he's quite an old dog, so maybe adapting won't be as easy at that age, but we'll be taking the best car eof him we can.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat... it's never easy dealing with something like that.

Thanks again, you've been a great help, and I'll keep you posted. Cheers.
